A Healthy Balance

Magnesium and calcium play opposite roles to keep your body in balance. Magnesium helps blood flow freely, while calcium helps it clot. Calcium excites nerves, while magnesium calms them. Calcium forces muscle contraction, and magnesium allows rest between contractions.


When two nutrients support opposite sides of crucial functions, it is vital to get the right amount of each. Our diet does not support this balance. Dr. Jean Durlach (a leading magnesium expert) says that health suffers if we consume more than two mg of calcium for each mg of magnesium (2:1 calcium to magnesium ratio). The healthiest ratio is thought to be between one and one and a half mg of calcium for each mg of magnesium.

Do You Get Enough Magnesium?

In the United States, the average calcium to magnesium ratio is around 4:1 for women and 3:1 for men. According to magnesium researchers worldwide, this is extremely unhealthy. One daily serving of 300 mg of magnesium is enough to get most of us under the 2:1 ratio, and two servings will drop the ratio into the 1:1 to 1.5:1 range. Stress: When you have good calcium and magnesium balance, calcium resides outside your cells, and magnesium remains inside. Do you need to wait until after the Ionic-Fizz™ has completed fizzing to drink it?

Our Ionic-Fizz™ products contain magnesium carbonate, calcium lactates, etc. The carbonate and lactates are molecules to which magnesium and calcium ions are bound. When mixed with water, the citrate, ascorbate, and malate in the formulas cause a chemical reaction (the fizz) that frees the minerals from their bonds. This is important because bound minerals can be absorbed only through active protein transport while free ions can be absorbed both in that way and by passive diffusion. This improves overall mineral uptake so that your body can use them better. You can drink the mixture before the fizzing concludes, as the reaction will continue in the stomach. However, we suggest waiting until the fizzing stops, especially if you have a sensitive stomach.*

When is the best time to take Ionic-Fizz™ to help at bedtime?

How often can I take Ionic-Fizz™ Magnesium Plus™ in one day? Is there a limit?

The current Daily Value for magnesium established by government agencies is 420 mg for adults. While these agencies suggest limiting magnesium from supplements to 350 mg per day, many nutritionists feel that the DV for magnesium should be higher.

Each scoop of Ionic-Fizz ™ Magnesium Plus™ provides 300 mg of magnesium. If you wish to use more than one scoop, it is wise to consult with your health care practitioner.

As mentioned, many researchers believe the DV for magnesium should be from 600 to 800 mg per day. With most Americans getting from 200 to 280 mg from foods, one scoop will get them at least slightly above the DV, and at least close to the higher levels that may be optimal. Two scoops would get most of us to the higher end of the range.

If you want to use more than one scoop daily, it’s best to space your intake throughout the day. This will increase absorption. If you’re using more than your body can absorb, you might experience extremely loose stools. This will dissipate after 24 hours of the excess use.*

I have taken this product for 12 years whenever I feel an afib episode coming on due to stress or anxiety, I immediately take a dose of it. It works in resetting my heart rhythm back to normal within minutes. I feel the original flavor lemonade without the raspberry tasted and worked better for me. Many of the stores it once was available at no longer carry the product. Why?

This product really covers a lot of ground in mineralization and trace elements. Super broad spectrum, very well absorbed, and a smidge of boron to boot. Pleasant taste and all you have to do is pour in a scoop, and wait for the product to stop fizzing. You can't mess it up!
