Pure Essence embarked on its path in 1998 with one purpose in mind – to provide the cleanest, purest, most effective dietary supplements and nutraceuticals by combining Western science with the world’s great holistic traditions. A lot has changed along the way, but not our commitment to using only the highest quality ingredients.

That’s why it should come as no surprise that we insisted on the world’s finest mushrooms when we prepared to launch our MyPure™ Mushrooms line in 2018. As fate would have it, we found Nammex, an American owned company that has been actively involved in mushroom cultivation in China for decades. This partnership provides access to 100% Certified Organic, non-GMO mushroom fruiting bodies for every formula and every bottle. How’s that for providing high-quality ingredients?

Jeff Chilton – Founder of Nammex

Nammex is the world’s leading supplier of organic mushroom extracts, but it would be nowhere without its founder, Jeff Chilton. With nearly 50 years of experience in researching, using, growing, and extracting mushrooms, Jeff is a pioneer in mycology and perhaps the world’s leading mushroom nutritionist. He is largely responsible for the availability of organic medicinal mushrooms in the United States.

Jeff’s story began with a job working at Ostrom Mushroom Farms in Olympia, Washington, where he had a front row seat to mushroom cultivation in America. Here, he gained knowledge of specialty mushrooms (like shiitake) and was involved in the research and development that resulted in their initial sales in the U.S. in 1978.

Over the next 10 years, Jeff founded Mycomedia, which held conferences to cultivate and share knowledge of mushrooms, co-authored a book on small-scale mushroom cultivation – The Mushroom Cultivator, and started a small specialty mushroom growing facility. The research that was involved confirmed his theories that specialty mushrooms had much to offer nutritionally and a part to play in future health advancements.

In 1989, he founded Nammex and discovered the unmatched trove of mushroom knowledge and capacity for production that China had to offer. Through networking, research, and the relationships he built, Jeff established the foundation that allows Nammex to be at the forefront of organic mushroom advancement in the U.S.

About Nammex.

Since its institution in 1989, Nammex has paved the way for mushrooms in the health supplement industry. We source our mushrooms from them because they are, without question, the world’s finest source for organic, mushroom fruiting bodies.

What sets Nammex, and those who use their mushroom extracts, apart from the rest, is the high-quality nutritional value provided by real fruiting body mushrooms. These mushrooms are cultivated in China, the country with the richest history of mushroom agriculture. [1] Every batch is laboratory tested for identity, purity, and potency, as well as for beta-glucan content.

Despite the proliferation of many types of “mushroom” products in today’s market, Nammex is one of only a few that provide real, mushroom fruiting bodies. Most others provide mycelia grown on grain, which contain only fractions of the whole, mushroom nutrition found in the extracts we secure from Nammex.

We are aware, of course, that many Americans do not trust Chinese quality. As consumers, we share this opinion of many Chinese goods. However, where mushrooms and herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine are concerned, exquisite quality is available to those with the right partnerships. We are proud to be among the few that Nammex has selected to supply with their full spectrum, world leading mushroom quality.

So, if you’re looking for quality real organic mushrooms, you can be sure you are getting the cleanest, purest mushroom nutrition available anywhere with MyPure™ Mushrooms.*
