I was doing supplement research to find out what I was deficient in and how to correct it. After a lot of digging, I realized that I was severely magnesium deficient based on my lifestyle and nature of my work.
I did further research to figure out the most optimal, or at least realistic, way for me to get more magnesium to meet my daily value needs. I came across the Magnesium Plus blend and thought I'd give it a shot; I ordered the orange-vanilla flavor at the time, but I'm a Mixed Berry fan nowadays. I added it to my workout shake since Magnesium is also good for recovery and I felt the difference immediately.
After the first few swigs from my shake, I felt a "waterfall-like" feeling in my brain except the waterfall had a sandy texture. I could feel my muscles relaxing and when I tried to sleep several hours later, I just went to sleep. No fighting the odd thoughts in my head, no headaches keeping me awake, etc. I just laid down, tried to sleep, and for once my brain said "ok".
Ever since then I take it daily, except now I take it in my morning shake. Taking it during evening workouts will make me sleepy earlier than I would like. I am able to "walk-off" the sleepy feeling in a couple hours during my morning routine and at work, but it keeps my magnesium levels in the proper window, so I retain the benefits when I go to sleep in the evening.
Be prepared for some digestive adjustment when you start taking it. It took my body ~3 weeks with daily intake to properly adjust. Some "soft" uncomfort in the bathroom is to be expected while your body adjusts and I would recommend eating an extra slice of bread or an extra roll or 2 to add some extra fiber in the meantime. I've been taking this for almost 5 years now and my body is well adjusted; I no longer need the extra fiber and I control my sleep patterns now instead of them controlling me.
To finish up let me say this: this supplement really opened my eyes to the fact that I was not taking care of myself. I assumed that I could just eat healthy sometimes and I would always get what I needed. Then I got a job that demanded a high level of focus and attention to detail and I realized I couldn't go on like this and be good at this job. I did a lot of research before buying any supplements because I knew grasping at straws was a bad idea. I changed my diet, continued working out, and decided to go with magnesium as my first supplement. I don't regret that choice. Now I have a full stack that I take daily, and I've never felt better. Give this a shot, you'll notice the change on day one.
