What are Probiotics?
Probiotics are helpful bacteria that support digestion, the immune system, vaginal and urinary tract health, and produce B vitamins. The most common types of probiotics are bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. Within each type are many strains that confer health benefits when present in sufficient amounts.
The human gut is home to 100 trillion probiotic cultures. This number is important, because it is by sheer numbers that probiotics prevent the overgrowth of yeast and pathogenic bacteria in the gut.
Do I Need a Probiotic Supplement?
Probiotics can impact every aspect of health and guard against nearly every kind of illness. They protect us primarily by limiting populations of pathogens that cause the inflammation which makes us more vulnerable to disease. They inhibit pathogens through competitive exclusion, disabling pathogen mobility, producing direct bacteria inhibiting factors, and strengthening general immunity.
Probiotics in the modern world are under constant attack. Chlorine (especially in the bath or shower), birth control pills, certain drugs, tobacco, alcohol, processed foods, extreme stress, and even normal aging deplete their numbers. The only way that most of us can prevent or overcome probiotic depletion is with supplements.
PureBiotics™ - Superior to Other Probiotics
The most helpful probiotic supplements are those that inhibit the greatest number of pathogens in the greatest number of ways. PureBiotics™ formulas are the result of over 35 years of research. Our probiotic strain counts range from 12 to 15 and provide a minimum of 30 billion up to 100 billion living cultures per capsule to inhibit every major pathogen group in every way listed above.† They are delivered in delayed-release capsules to protect them against stomach acids, packed in amber glass bottles with desiccants to guard against light, moisture and air.*
PureBiotics™ Women is a blend of 15 probiotic strains (50 billion active cultures per capsule†). The balance is about 30% bifido and 70% lacto cultures to support digestion, immunity, and the vaginal and urinary tracts, and inhibit every major type of pathogenic bacteria. PureBiotics™ Women is designed for women of any age who want maximum feminine support.*
† PureBiotics™ Women is formulated to provide 30 billion active cultures per capsule at date of expiration if refrigerated at your place of purchase and in your home. Our probiotics are highly stable at room temperature, but refrigeration will nonetheless insure maximum potency.

Will the probiotics in PureBiotics™ … die off during shipping?
We formulate our PureBiotics™ formulas with overages to account for potential loss during shipping. In warm weather months, we only ship probiotics so that they’re never “on the road” for more than 48 hours. The potencies stated on the labels are guaranteed through the “best used by” or expiration date.
What is the best time of day to take PureBiotics™ …?
We suggest that you take PureBiotics™ … on an empty stomach or with your lightest meal so that the stomach acid is relatively low. While the capsules are acid resistant, lower stomach acid may increase the number of probiotics that establish successful colonies in your intestinal tract.*
Can I take PureBiotics™ … while I’m on antibiotics?
Yes! Not only can you, but it’s very smart to do so. Research suggests that using probiotics while on antibiotic therapy may reduce the incidence of antibiotic-associated diarrhea and amplify the antibiotic effect by helping prevent infection-causing microbes from adhering and multiplying.*
The best time to take your PureBiotics™ … in relation to antibiotics is at least 2-4 hours after the antibiotic dose. If you’re using PureBiotics™ … only for this reason (not as part of a continuing, daily regimen), consider taking it for at least 1–3 weeks longer than the length of your antibiotic treatment.*
Is it safe for me to take PureBiotics™ … if I am pregnant?
Does PureBiotics™ … help with mood elevation or depression?
Research has shown that the gut and brain are linked through biochemical signaling between the nervous system in the digestive tract and the central nervous system. Studies suggest that probiotics, like those found in PureBiotics™ …, can help to deliver neuroactive substances such as serotonin and GABA (Gamma-aminobutyric acid), which act on this brain-gut axis.*
